Antimicrobial therapy of severe “civilian” intra-abdominal infections: a modern approach to empiric antibiotic therapy

Summary. This publication discusses the problems of treatment of severe intra-abdominal infections, namely empirical antimicrobial therapy of secondary peritonitis in view of the current state of the issue in the understanding of the authors, modern guidelines and orders of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

Places of use of the well-known, but new for Ukraine drug piperacillin/tazobactam, carbapenems, reserve antibiotics.

We do not consider candidal, primary and tertiary peritonitis here, we hope to pay attention to this in future publications.

Key words: intra-abdominal infections, intensive care, empiric antibiotic therapy, piperacillin/tazobactam.
